If you think that La Union is just for surfing. Well, think again!
Because if you're looking for another taste of spending time here in Ilocos, might as well visit the Tangadan Falls located at San Gabriel, La Union

OUR ITINERARY

The water coming from the falls is freezing cold most specially in the morning and of course as tourist's we definitely wanted to experience that so we woke up early at exactly 5:00 am then my friends fixed themselves and it took them almost 2 hours to be ready lol

Anyway since we are staying at Agoo, it would take almost an hour going to Sn.fernando, La Union via ordinary bus. At exactly 8:00 am we arrived.

- we rode a jeepney going to San Gabriel for another One hour (fare is Php 26.00) we asked the driver to drop us off exactly where we can hire a tricycle going to Tangadan Falls.

- next we hire a tricyle, it costs us Php15.00/person going to Brgy.Dagup for about 10 to 15mins.where in, we would start a minor climb going to the waterfalls. We arrived around 10 am.

We hire a local guide named Aaron and he said that it would take almost an hour going to the falls, this teenage guide didn't ask for any specific amount and said that any amount is Ok. So after negotiating we started to do the trek.

In just few minutes there's already a glimpse of paradise while hiking, in front of us is a running water with greenish moss a proof that the place is still virgin and preserved. The river is surrounded by trees and rock formations there's no need to cover yourself if you were afraid to get tanned lol!

A Fantastic view of the trail going to Tangadan Falls

At this point our guide Aaron noticed me picking up some thrown garbage along our way and it's his first time to see a tourist collecting shit's on a garbage bag (laughs). I caught his attention and I asked him to bring his own garbage bag next time to make sure that trail would still be clean and the river won't be contaminated.

At axactly 10:30 am we had our first stop and this what showed up.

Tangadan Cliff

There's a Cliff perfect for Cliff-jumping and Cliff-diving with clear water depth of about 15 feet.

Selfie at Tangadan Cliff lol

We stayed here for an hour then after that, another 30 mins.minor climb going to Tangadan Falls.

Running Water

you would also cross wooden bridge like this near the falls.

And finally at exactly 12:00 noon we reached the Tangadan Falls.
First thing that you need to do is to sign an attendance sheet so locals and guides can monitor people for safety and to make sure they can accommodate everyone. Another thing,
It doesn't have entrance fee!

Tangadan Falls

On the foot of Tangadan Falls, locals made eatery's (carinderia) for tourist's perfect for those who didn't bring food for lunch. Meals are affordable, same price if you are going too buy in a usual carinderia. One meal will cost you Php50.00 which is not bad! and for me it's Php60.00 because of extra rice lol.

There are also available Bamboo made cottages for everyone price of cottages would range from Php300.00-Php500.00 (just make sure to throw your left over food or garbage on a proper bin so water won't be contaminated).

Mackoy at Tangadan Falls

You can only hear the water falling on it's stream with an ice-cold water perfect for a refreshing-dip after hiking/trekking. You can even ride a raft going to it's cascades for a massage.

You can also see the view on top of the waterfalls with an estimated height of 40 meters.
Seeing tourists having fun swimming and diving while I'm on top of this huge rock
is a breath taking experience.

In addition, took a few more steps going up, behind this huge rock is a pool on it's upper level with crystal clear water.

Upper level-pool at Tangadan Falls

We stayed here for almost 3 hours then around 4:00 pm we decided to go back to the jump off trail because I need to go to work early the next day and travel time would take 7 hrs.back to Quezon City.

Now, If you will ask me if I would be going back here? Of course! Yes! Definitely! and I'll make sure to make a perfect movie clip as part of my Monthly-out-of-town and my Yearly-Travel-Collections.
